I am happy to be part of St. Jude Higher Secondary School that has a great legacy. It has completed fifty-eight years as high school and twenty-one years as higher Secondary School and now the journey continues spreading light and hope to thousands of children and their families.
‘Quality education affordable’ remained always the very special aspect of St. Jude and thus it created history. Over fifty-eight years the School imparted an indelible mark of excellence. Its commitment to instil in the students those values that help them to create stability in every stage of life was well cared for. I am also happy to note that in St. Jude we place equal emphasis on training students in vital aspects of life through extracurricular activities along with academics.
I am confident that, with its commitment to excellence, St. Jude HSS will achieve newer heights in the future. There is a popular saying that “Institutions are NOT made with Brick and Mortar but are made of People”. It is very pertinent to this institution. The St. Jude School is made and is still running on the wheels of love and cooperation of very many people attached to this institution. I convey my best wishes to the Manager, Principal, Staff and Students for the coming year and appreciate their efforts towards providing holistic education to the students.
A well-known author, speaker, and international adviser on education, Ken Robinson, observes that “the core of education is to prepare young people for life after school, helping them to build up the mental, emotional, social, and strategic resources to enjoy challenge and cope well with uncertainty and complexity”. Over a period of time, schools have changed a lot, and the duty of education is amended to fuel the growth of children in accordance with the changing world. Hence, I agree with Ken Robinson’s view.
It is in this context, and as a former principal of St. Jude and present manager of it, that I am proud to share some thoughts about St. Jude Higher Secondary School. Considering the impulsive demands of a fast-changing society, we envision imparting progressive and quality education to meet the demands of a competitive society. The basic moral and ethical values of St. Jude School make our children more dutiful, disciplined, and dignified. The management provides the right environment for our students to acquire knowledge through proper determination.
Our motto is Duty, Dignity, and Discipline. With the 3 D’s of Citadel, we promote academic excellence while nurturing people to become moral and intellectual beings. Being a person of duty, dignity, and discipline, one can make a difference in the world. St. Jude also provides counselling facilities for our children in order to examine their mental and psychological well-being. It has a great team that is committed, qualified, and dedicated under the leadership of Principal Rev. Fr. Sone Thomas, OFM Cap. We encourage our teachers to constantly undergo cluster training programmes organised by the education department, the Govt. of Kerala, and other training programmes that sharpen their skills and make them well versed in effective teaching. Let us continue to sustain our healthy relationship between faculties, students, and parents to maintain our congenial atmosphere all around.
May the good Lord bless all.
